Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has expressed growing confidence that the club can finally end their long wait for a Premier League title this season.
The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League with a nine-point lead over Manchester City, and with eight games to go, Mikel Arteta’s side are in a commanding position to secure their first league title since the unbeaten 2003-04 campaign.
Arsenal have amassed 70 points from 31 matches (21 wins, 7 draws, 3 losses), boasting a goal difference of +39, while second-placed Manchester City sit on 61 points from 30 games despite holding a game in hand.
Recent results, including Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Everton and City’s draw at West Ham, have stretched the gap to nine points as the run-in intensifies, with key fixtures remaining such as Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City on April 19.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Bukayo Saka acknowledged Arsenal’s recent history of finishing second in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons but emphasized a heightened sense of belief within the squad this campaign.
“We finished second three times in a row. Everyone knows that,” Saka said. “For us, I just feel this year we have such a strong belief that we can do it.
“We have the quality, we have a great squad. I think that mix is what’s making me believe, but obviously, at the same time, we haven’t achieved anything yet.
“We’re close, but we haven’t done it yet. We’re just staying humble, staying grounded.”
