Havertz Back on the Scoresheet as Germany Edge Past Ghana 2-1 in friendly

Arsenal BuzzBy Arsenal BuzzMarch 30, 2026

Kai Havertz found himself back on the scoresheet for Germany as his side beat Ghana 2-1 in a friendly at Stuttgart’s MHP Arena.

The Arsenal man has had a stop-start season due to injury, so it was a welcome sight for both club and country to see the 26-year-old back in action and contributing.

He broke the deadlock just before the break, stepping up to convert from the spot and giving Germany a platform to build on heading into the second half.

Ghana had other ideas, though. The West Africans levelled things up with around 20 minutes remaining, with Abdul Fatawu Issahaku punishing some sloppy defensive work to make it 1-1 and set up a nervy finish.

It looked like the spoils might be shared, but substitute Deniz Undav had a say in the matter, popping up in the 88th minute to snatch all three points and send the home crowd into delirium.

It was far from a flawless showing from Julian Nagelsmann’s men, but they’ll take it. The victory rounds off a positive international break for Germany, who also came out on top in a seven-goal thriller against Switzerland last week, meaning they head back to their clubs with back-to-back wins under their belts.

With no fresh setbacks on international duty, Havertz should return to Arsenal in good shape and with some valuable match rhythm as the club heads into a crucial run-in across the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.
