Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn has hit back at critics of the club’s playing style, insisting there is a deliberate agenda against the Gunners being amplified by social media.
Speaking via AceOdds, the Gunners legend said: “There’s an agenda around Arsenal and that’s because people don’t like the style of play and social media helps to spread it.”
Winterburn was equally dismissive of suggestions that Arsenal would deserve an asterisk next to their name should they win the title, firing back at pundits and journalists pushing that narrative.
“All this rubbish from ex players and journalists about an asterisk if they win should be ignored. Whoever finishes top should win the title no matter how you play. It’s up to the opposition to find a way of stopping you.”
The former left-back had a simple message for frustrated opposition supporters this season: “Get on with it.”
For Winterburn, if Arsenal lift the 2026 Premier League title, he believes supporters will only care about one thing — finally being crowned champions again.
