Kai Havertz has backed Germany to have a successful World Cup campaign, citing strong team spirit within the squad and a desire to build on the positive momentum generated ahead of Euro 2024.
“That is naturally the most important building block. No team works without togetherness. We’re on a very good path with that. We do have some new players again, but they don’t seem to need any real settling-in time.
“We’re going to use this week to fine-tune everything perfectly for the intense phase ahead. We will do everything we can to become a real unit. At a World Cup, that is extremely important.”
The Arsenal forward acknowledged that his previous tournament experiences with Germany have fallen short of expectations, but expressed belief that this generation of players has the talent to take the next step on the international stage.
“They weren’t particularly successful tournaments. Even though we played outstanding football at EURO 2024, it wasn’t enough. We want to take that positivity from the turnaround before the Euros with us.
“Of course there’s always pressure, but we don’t want to put ourselves under too much pressure. This generation brings so much talent. We want to prove to the country that we’re ready for the next step. I’m very confident that the World Cup will be successful for us.”
